Grandstand — Large Version is a panel-friendly pieced quilt pattern from Mountainpeek Creations™. A 28½” x 40½” theme fabric or panel centre is framed with 2½” strips and then surrounded by rows of large and small accent blocks and a wide outer border, so a favourite print or panel stays the focus of the quilt.

Panel or theme fabric

Uses ⅞ yd of theme fabric or a panel, centred and cut 28½” x 40½”. For a directional fabric, allow 1¼ yd cut along the length of fabric.

Fabric requirements

  • Framing strips and inner border — 1 yd
  • Large accent blocks — ⅓ yd, or 1 yd if directional
  • Small accent blocks — 4 to 5 fat eighths
  • Outer border — 1⅓ yd
  • Binding — ⅝ yd
  • Backing — 3¾ yds
  • Batting — twin size

Techniques used

  • Framed panel or theme fabric centre
  • Pieced accent block rows from 4½” x 6½” rectangles
  • Based on a ¼” seam allowance
