Baby Steps is a pieced baby quilt pattern from Mountainpeek Creations™, designed by Kari Nichols. A theme print is cut 18½” x 24½” for the center and framed with a panel border, then blocks made from four block center fabrics and sashing surround it before the outer border goes on. It is a quick crib-size quilt that lets one theme print do most of the work.

  • Theme print for center — ⅝ yd (¾ yd if directional along the length of fabric)
  • Panel border — ½ yd
  • Block sashing — ⅝ yd
  • Block centers — (4) ⅙ yd

  • Binding — ½ yd, backing — 2¾ yds
  • Crib size batting

  • Rotary cutting from width-of-fabric strips
  • Panel border, block sashing and outer border construction
